5 mistakes we make when drinking water

Drinking water seems like an incredibly simple act; many people think that drinking more water is better. But there are ways to go wrong: the more you drink, the thirstier you become.

1. Drink water during exercise, but do not drink before training.

Even if you drink water regularly during your workout, you are likely to get a headache if you don’t drink enough beforehand. You should drink at least 240 ml of water about half an hour before your workout.

2. Drink the right amount of water (8 glasses) per day.

The American Institute of Medicine recommends drinking 11.4 glasses of water per day, although the amount of water you need to drink can vary per person. The exact amount of water you need to drink depends on your body size and weight.

You can also get water from foods such as fruits and vegetables (an apple provides as much water as a glass of water); you need to drink less water if you eat more. In general, you can calculate the amount of water you need daily by dividing by your weight (each ounce equals 30 ml).

3. Avoid drinking coffee and tea.
